A taste of happiness: authentic Italian gelato, hand-made by us, using traditional recipes, and the finest Mediterranean and local ingredients
Our Ethos is quite simple: Great products,
happy customers, and a strong community.
Our Story
My family’s origins lie in the foothills of the
Abruzzo mountains in southern Italy where my
mother Maria grew up in the small rural town
of Capistrello, around 50 miles from Rome.
Like many Italians in the post-second world war
period, my mother emigrated from the poverty of
southern Italy to a new life in England in 1960. She arrived in Sidmouth with a family of Italians who ran firstly a fish and chip shop and latterly a seafront café where I started working in the summer holidays when I
was 10 years-old!
Antonio’s Café and Ice Cream Parlour began life at Number 9, The Strand in Exmouth in 2013, and quickly won several awards. My Italian ice cream or ‘Gelato’ is handmade using authentic Italian recipes. The business is family owned, and family run as Antonio’s children Chris, Tom and Dan also play their part in running the family business.
We make regular donations to local organisations, working with, and alongside, schools and community groups to help support their activities.

“The best ice-cream this side of Little Venice. The warmth and cordiality of the hosts are a
